Belt Loop Hat video by Loomahat My next hat "The Belt Loop Hat" taught me two lessons
A new stitch was introduced too, Purl. I had learnt the existence of this stitch in knitting, but my plain knitting never developed that far! The brim of this hat used a row of eWrap knit alternating with a row of Purl. This is another loomahat project and I followed along with the YouTube instructional video which is embedded below the photo of my finished hat. My previous hat had been a bit small so I tried to increase its height but it didn't really work. I wasn't sure how many rows were needed. There are slouchy hat patterns which use the patten length to create the 'slouch', this was neither one or the other! Lesson 1 Lesson 2 was the hat size of the Pink 36 peg loom I have is too small for a comfortably fitted Adult hat. I bit of searching and I found a circle loom with 41 pegs. I will give this hat another go. Loomahat's Denise Canela has a sizing blog post, but the height of the hat does depend on the stitch used and the wool.

CaronI like to make stuff. I used to do crafts as a kid, but fell out of practice, ran out of time, never had the space as a grown up. Now I am finding the time, making the space, making stuff. I'm starting with hats. ArchivesCategories
