My favourite theatre critic comment shared with me by an actor was "There is more tension in my knitting that xxxx theatre company's production of xxxx."
Wow... scathing! I understand it might have been deserved but... ouch!
With knitting and crochet getting the tension right is a skill learnt with much practice. As a modern Milly I want results! I'm happy to learn the basics, read and repeat, but I don't have the luxury of time to develop the skill that tension mastery requires. It's how you hold your 'needles' and over time relaxing into a rhythm. Crochet is a little more forgiving and I did make a couple of hats. I do intend to revisit Crochet. There are exhaustive resources online.
I was looking for my craft, my past-time hobby. During 2014 I went along to a couple of Maker Space evenings at Derby Silk Mill and discovered wood laser cutting and 3D printing. It took me back to my theatre model making days.
It was January (2015) that I discovered circle loom knitting. It was February that saw BBC's Get Creative launch and I thought I would blog about the create stuff wot I make!
This is the YouTube video of the hat. You will see what I mean about tension and ultimately the shape. I was delighted to find so many make-along videos. BobWilson123 inspired me to keep looking for hats I could have a go at.
